I have to say that apart from a few of Sherwood
and Ludlow, most are publicity shots of me
and not the places I have worked. This will

Welcome to my world...

Telling tales on an evening story walk, Sherwood Forest 08

Welcome to my blog and as the title says, I'm a traveling teller of tales and have been for over six years or more now and I like to think of myself as a wandering wonderer! I've been working as one half of Past-Imagined Historical Tale Tellers, but am now going it alone as The Yarnsmith of Norwich. As part of my new guise I am in the process of setting up my own website. It will tell anyone who is interested in story telling all about what I do. I'm also working on two other blog sites (see my links) the first gives written examples of some of the stories I tell and the second relates to my earlier work as a historian and historical interpreter

I have worked all over England from the Ashmolean museum in Oxford to the Glastonbury Festival, Hadrian's Wall and the annual Robin Hood Festival in Sherwood where I've had the privilege of camping in the very woods where Robin of the Hood hung out. I've even got stuck in the major oak where its said that Robin met with his merry mates ! This year I shall be back at both the Ashmolean and Sherwood, but will also be performing at some new venues; from the British Museum where I shall be telling Saxon & Viking tales, to Battle Abbey , Hastings, where William the Conqueror defeated the Saxons and where I'll be telling tales of fabulous beasts and the devil himself! I'll provide links to the sites as and when I visit them and a full diary of places I'm performing will (Hopefully!) be available very soon on my website.

So, if you want to visit by proxy some of the castles, monastic sites, historic houses, festivals, fayres and museums of England, whilst learning something of the the ups and downs of life as a wandering fabulator, then sit back and relax. Let me do all the driving, and let me get the aching back from all the camping whilst you simply read my blog!
